For our basic event, we pick 4-5 animals to bring out and teach about! We can bring the animals around for each child to touch or we can have them at a table for the children to come view. This event can be held in an assembly style or more of a free-flowing style. if choosing to do an assembly style please be aware that the students will not get to touch all of the animals due to time. The smaller the group, the more interactions the students can have! If you have more than 40 students and would like to do an assembly style, we suggest breaking it into two sessions.

For our standard event, we start off with a bit of informal teaching about each of our 4-5 animals that we bring. Once we have met each of the animals, we break into groups and search through soil bins that contain LIVE insects. While the students are exploring the soil, our scientists will be calling them up one by one to take a picture with one of our amazing animal ambassadors! Once the event is over, those pictures will be edited and downloaded to a file that will be sent directly to the email of the person who booked the event.

After each child has gotten a picture, we move into a “wow experiment that will be done at the front of the group. If this event is for a birthday party the birthday child will be asked to help with the experiment (but if they are not willing, of course, that is okay too!). Once the event is over, the photo moment pictures will be edited and downloaded to a file that will be sent directly to the email of the person who booked the event.

For our premium event, we usually start off with a small lesson on the “theme” that you chose. Sometimes this lesson includes the animal encounter and sometimes it includes a “wow” experiment; this portion of the event will be tailored to the grade/age level of the group and can be differentiated for a group of mixed levels.

Though the order of the activities changes with each “theme”, every event will include an animal encounter and photo moment. While we are taking the photo moment pictures, the students will be participating in an engaging experiment that they will be able to perform on their own or in groups.

After everyone has taken their photo, we move into an experiment that each child will get to take home with them! Every “theme” has a different take-home experiment. For our experiment experience, we start off with a “wow” experiment to get the students engaged. After we have their attention, we pass out materials for an interactive experiment that the children can perform on their own! Then we wrap things up with an experiment that each child will get to take home with them! You get to design this experience by choosing from our lists of our best experiments; so each and every experience will be different and unique! This event DOES NOT include an animal encounter.

For our classroom/ home-school experience, we typically start out with a lesson on the concepts that go with the NC standard we are focusing on. This lesson can sometimes include a “wow” experiment depending on the standard driven program that you choose. If you have chosen an animal event, after we identify what we are learning for the event, we will dive into an animal encounter that is tailored to fit the lesson. The animals that we bring out depend on the program that you choose. After we meet the animals, we move into an experiment that the children are able to do in groups or on their own. Meanwhile, our scientist calls up each child one by one to take their photo moment with one of our animal ambassadors.
